which method did the doctor use for removing the palatines and adenoids?
have you ever told the doctor to have a look at your lingual tonsils or have you considered it? This is a surgery that is not done often but it could be the answer, as you have already removed the other 2 tonsils.
I went to an ent doctor today (private uk) and he has agreed to remove my palatines out but regarding the adenoids he said there is nothing there. So I guess I will settle for just getting the palatines removed for now and hope that it cures me.
The method he will use is by laser so there will still be a bit of tonsils left over unlike if I got it done the traditional way in which case 100% can be removed. But laser apparently has less pain involved when recovering as the stubs of the tonsils are not removed.

hm.. would tongue scraping with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine dioxide toothpaste not help you reduce your halitosis? or is your halitosis from the nose area?FedUp wrote:no.HS wrote:I really hope you recover with the halitosis gone..FedUp wrote:good luck to those getting it done i hope it works for you.

poked some tissue where tonsil used to be a tonsil stone came popping I was bewildered. so december 2014 i underwent a second tonsillectomy to remove a big chunk of tissue left behind... 2 weeks of bad pain and terrible smells from the area- still no joy.
read this thread about adenoids, started to poke the area with a cotton bud and the smell came from that area. doc found 2 of the same cysts as well a chunk of adenoid tissue- had that all removed- still no joy. still a diaper smell from behind nose- im convinced its a sinus. for some reason i can smell myself more these days, it seems to be stronger in the right nostril... im just waiting on ct sinus scans which will upload here when i get them. i also had a tornwaldt cyst removed in 2013 from post nasal space... it's all got to be linked.. it has to be.

if i shut my mouth and breathe through nose only- the smell becomes more apparent to everyone around me. mouthwashes/brushing teeth only magnify the diaper smell. when i floss there is no smell on the inter dental brush. it's just frustrating knowing you have a problem but not knowing why.. if i knew where it was coming from i could take the proper steps in getting it sorted.HS wrote:hm.. would tongue scraping with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine dioxide toothpaste not help you reduce your halitosis? or is your halitosis from the nose area?FedUp wrote:no.HS wrote: I really hope you recover with the halitosis gone..

The ENT said he would look at my adenoids while I was under, and if they were large he would remove or cauterize them. After the surgery, my family told me the ENT told them my adenoids were infected and he removed them. I do not know what method he used to remove them.
Then I went to a new GI doc, after endoscopy he said my LES is weak, not functioning properly which is causing the reflux. Once again, I will try the pills and lifestyle changes recommended by the doctor (no antibiotics though). If it doesn't work I will go for Laparoscopic Antireflux Surgery (Nissen fundoplication).
When there is something obviously wrong (for me: LES disfunction), there is no need to look for some mysterious cure for bb.
Praying for results
It's funny that I'm seeing this now after I just had my adenoids removed on Monday. I truly won't know if it worked for me until the scabs come off. Here is my story: I've only noticed I've had bad breath for the last two years and I have done everything you can think of to get rid of this curse. I've been to every specialist you can think of and spent hundreds of dollars on dental work. No matter what I've done it's still there. I got my tonsils removed last year and still had bad breath...although it slightly improved in the sense that you can only smell it if I was talking right in front of you, as before you can smell it the moment I walked into the room. Anyways, I was finally accepting the fact that I had chronic halitosis and was focusing more on these recent headaches, sinus issues, PND, and other medical issues I was noticing. Looking back, I think I've always had sinus issues but never paid attention to them. Anyways, in my most recent ENT visit I started talking about my symptoms rather than just talk about my bad breath and that's when the ENT specialist took me serious and did a better evaluation and noticed I had debri on my adenoids. He didn't want to promise me anything since he saw how disappointed I was when he removed my tonsils and I still had bad breath. Anyways he said sometimes your adenoids can also cause halitosis, so I went ahead and scheduled my surgery again. Let me tell you this was not as bad as getting your tonsils out. I'm upset he didn't notice it then since most people get both tonsils and adenoids removed at the same time, but at least he caught it now. It's only been 3 days and I do see a difference. However, the aftercare instructions did say I might have bad breath for up to 14 days or until all the scabs come off, so praying this is the cure I've been looking for. I'll keep you guys posted.
By the way, if you've seen my other post on seeing the Dr. in Berkeley....PLEASE DON'T. It only helped temporarily but didn't get rid of it completely.
Good luck everyone! Don't give up!
Thank you, I will update when there is more healing.StinkBomb wrote:That's encouraging news! Good luck and keep us posted.the ENT told them my adenoids were infected and he removed them
Just curious, does your family know that you had the procedure to cure bad breath? Do they acknowledge your bad breath?
My family knows I had the procedure to cure my bad breath. They acknowledged it as soon as I touched the tip of my tongue with my finger, and told them to smell my finger. Other than that, it was rare that they noticed it. Maybe a time or two if we were face to face talking and I hadn't cleaned my mouth well or used a waterpik on my tonsils. It was always there though, no matter how much I cleaned.

I went to ENT yesterday and he expects me to be fully recovered in another 2 weeks. I still have white stuff thats part of the scabs on both sides hence not able to evaluate on the condition of my breath until I am completely healed.
I will let you guys know.
