No again. I dont use Halimeter. I have examined his halitosis with using a multi gas detector, of course face to face.

I mean have you taken persons whiff of bb while talking ? What if patients halimeter readings are lower but while talking to him ,you can easily get his bad breath

No again. I never sniff oral gases that are emitted from patients. Machine does.

Dr Aydin, do you think hormones play any role in chronic halitosis? My halitosis started when I was 12 and it became progressively worse till when I was like 15 and it has stayed as bad since then. It has been described as smelling like feces. The weird part is that most doctors have not personally smelled anything unusual in my breath. One said that it just smelled like cigarette smoke, but this clashes with the reality that most people I meet, avoid me, and their body language clearly tells they notice my BB. So for some reason, some people, doctors and non-doctors, tell me that there is no BB. And I can tell they're not lying. But like I said, most people seem to notice it. Not everyone. And I don't really know why. I'm supposed to start studying again next month and I'm terrified. I don't want to go through the same pain I did in school earlier in my life. There has to be a solution to this hell. I saw some people in this thread mention silver-based solutions but aren't they kinda dangerous? Don't they cause argyria?

This question revolves around H. Pylori and related issues.
I have had bad breath all my life. Also smelly bathroom moments.
About 3-4 years ago got diagnosed with H Pylori. Got the cocktail for it and eliminated it. For years I also checked to make sure i didn't have that again.
The effect on my breath was very noticeable however it didn't eliminate my bad breath completely. It rather reduced it by say 50% or so. My tongue got more clear (relatively speaking). The intensity of the smell in my nose and mouth got noticeably reduced. And more importantly my bathrooms did not smell anymore.
I even did better over the past few years which i don't want to bore you with that.
The same symptoms as the ones prior to H Pylori treatment have come back starting a month ago: smelly bathroom breaks, bad breath noticeable even by my own through my nose, more residue on my tongue.
Today i got the results of my endoscopy. It showed no signs of H Pylori. I am baffled absolutely.
Do you have any explanation for this?
Is there something else that resides in the stomach and gets eliminated by the same antibiotics used for H Pylori?
Are there new strains of H Pylori that are not detectable by the tests being done currently?

Doctor, do you think the effectiveness of Bismuth subsalicylate points to a specific cause of halitosis, for example, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth or H Pylori?

What do you think are the negative effects of taking Bismuth for long periods?

I dont know long term effect of Bismuth salts but I know bismuth can bind to H2S in the gut (probably other gases too) . Sometimes I prescribe De-Nol tablet 4x1 for ten days for Type 3 or Type 4 halitosis cases.

Yes I have seen him recently; you can email him for an appointment ([email protected])
I personally recommend seeing him or seeing similar specialist as I think it is better that trying to shoot everything until you hit the cause of the problem plus it might save your money.

Benefits:
1-seeing him can confirm that you have a problem in the first place or not.
2-define the type of halitosis you have and possibly define the source of the problem.
3-having a report about the different odor gases you have and their amount from different locations (nasal, oral and lungs)
4-you will see if zinc rinse works for you or if it reduces your symptoms (by how much).
5-He is a good source of information regarding this subject and can help you if you have any questions.

For me the most expensive part was the ticket to there.
