Soft palate may be the problem

Post by gaggedmouth »

I'm new here.

I've had bad breath for about 13 years, since I was 15, and have tried most of the things on this site--antibiotics, wisdom tooth extract, hydrogen peroxide, etc. Health professionals don't seem to know the cause or what the symptoms indicate.

I decided to take minute notice of my symptoms and this is what I realized.

Thick, foul-smelling mucus drains from the area (like a small hole/depression) behind the molars of the upper/back part of my mouth, where the soft palate is. The mucus coats my tongue and my throat. My mouth becomes very dry and bitter.

It seems that the mucus traps chemicals in whatever I ingest because my mouth smells heavily of whatever I eat/drink, and then the smell gradually becomes fetid, as though the food had fermented in my mouth. Non-alcoholic wine (which I drink on Sundays during communion) produces the worst smell. Sugary foods come a close second in producing the odor.

The mucus is thickest when I eat (especially spicy foods) or drink water (especially very cold water). It is colorless but very thick and copious. My mouth doesn't smell when I sing but does when I talk. Also, the back of my throat (behind the soft palate) becomes sore when I speak for long. That region itches, as well as, my ears.

I have PND, GERD and sinusitis but treating/managing these has no effect on BB. I can smell my breath when I exhale forcefully through my mouth, and I have no doubt that the smell is primarily in the roof of my mouth and back of my throat, where the soft palate is.

Does anyone else have these symptoms? I've lost rack of the things I've tried but I think if I could put a finger on what's wrong with the roof of my mouth, I'll be on to something. The specialists have run out of ideas.

Hey
I have been facing the exact same problem for the past 5-6 years. My symptoms are exactly the same as yours. Did you have any luck in finding the treatment for this?
